Dragon's Dogma 2 Dark Arisen

Lost Rites are a new dungeon challenge that are in the legacy game map, expanding the base game content with Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. With twelve of these to delve into in total, the Lost Rites dungeons serve as a persistent source for farming high-tier rewards.

This guide for Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is for acquiring the Proving Grounds Compass in order to use it for unlocking the locations to the Lost Rites dungeons.

How To Get The Proving Grounds Compass

Begin at Ventworth’s Stardrop Inn where you must speak with Captain Brant in order to acquire the ‘Lost Rites’ questline in the first place, via the dialogue “About the uncovered ruins…”

Next, embark north to reach the Darkhorde Cave in the wilds of northern Vermund, south-west of the Malachite Forest.

Located here is the very first of the twelve Lost Rites for you to challenge: Devilkin Hollow. This will be the most straightforward of the challenge dungeons, since it serves as a tutorial and eventually rewards you with the Proving Grounds Compass in the treasure room, along with other loot.

How To Use The Proving Grounds Compass

Once in your possession, you must open your Inventory and proactively Use the Proving Grounds Compass the first time in order to permanently place markers on the map for the remaining eleven Lost Rites dungeons, which span both Vermund and Battahl. Three of them are only accessible in the endgame i.e. The Unmoored World.

Unlike Devilkin Hollow, these additional dungeons will have other gameplay gates that prevent immediate access, including story progression, as well as dungeon rules such as vocation and equipment restrictions.

You will also have to complete the ‘Convergence’ quest in order to acquire the Empowered Godsbane Blade. This item is required for cracking open the glowing blue spellseal doors in several, but not all, of the Lost Rites dungeons, behind which are the true treasure troves.

That is everything there is to know about acquiring the Proving Grounds Compass and unlocking access to the Lost Rites dungeons in Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen.
