Tales of Eternia Remastered, Bandai Namco’s latest remaster, has been on our radar since that announcement earlier this year, and for good reason.
It’s among our favorites in the Tales series, and though Reid, Farah, and Meredy might have come together by varying circumstances, the ensuing journey binds them. It’s a testament to the story’s effectiveness how you’ll get sucked in alongside them on an adventure that involves a massive conflict they have no part in but must navigate nonetheless. The rest of the cast is equally compelling, and they’re a memorable bunch once you engage with their backstories.
The good news is that the remastered visuals make that adventure much prettier, and additions like destination markers, a high-speed mode for auto-battles, and the option to turn off enemy encounters make it easier to travel the world. That’s a solid list of quality-of-life improvements that add some modern convenience to a long-standing classic. It’s honestly hard to believe that nearly two and a half decades have passed since the original.
