Between PlayStation backing out of Physint and Xbox picking it up (not including the release of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach for PC), Kojima Productions has certainly had an eventful year. It’s easy to forget the studio has been around for more than a decade, hence the ongoing 10th Anniversary Exhibition in Japan.
While it’s an incredible celebration, attendees discovered something even more intriguing. As Firmus_Anguis posted on ResetEra, Physint sported several new mechanical designs that should ring a few bells for Metal Gear Solid fans. Their first picture is a dead ringer for Metal Gear REX from the first title in the illustrious series.
Next is a bipedal machine that resembles the GEKKO from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. There’s also a bust featuring several characters…until you realize they seem to be different looks for the protagonist played by Bill Skarsgård. Maybe it hints at the story covering multiple points in his life? Time will tell.
But if director Hideo Kojima stating the plot is “ready” wasn’t enough, the physical script is visible. He previously noted it’s a “different kind of spy action” title and apparently “substantially below” the cost of a premium game, per Xbox CEO Asha Sharma. Whether it’s coming to PlayStation or not remains unknown, but stay tuned.
