The Empty Bottles in The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake are handy little containers for storing a variety of useful contents. These could range from sellable Blue Fire and Fish, to a variety of Potions and the health-restorative Lon Lon Milk.

This guide for The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake outlines the unlock criteria and locations for every Empty Bottle, including the newly added fifth Empty Bottle.

New Empty Bottle Location

The new Empty Bottle can be acquired from the Potion Shop in Hyrule Castle Town. You will get the Empty Bottle from the Potion Shopkeeper almost immediately in order to capture a bug using the Bottle. Once you have done so, simply hand it back over to the Shopkeeper and Link will be rewarded a Red Potion in return, which is effectively the first Empty Bottle once consumed.

Lon Lon Ranch

Begin at Hyrule Castle Town and speak with Malon, then awaken Talon. Next, head for Lon Lon Ranch to interact with Talon at their shared home, and play his Super Cucco minigame. Win it to get a free bottle of Lon Lon Milk, which will effectively become your second Empty Bottle.

Kakariko Village

Sticking with the Cucco theme, interact with the Cucco Lady in order to perform her little escaped Cuccos quest. Returning them to their coop to be awarded your third Empty Bottle.

Lake Hylia

The fourth Empty Bottle starts with a letter inside it, and is in Link’s story progression path, making it the only unmissable Empty Bottle you ever acquire. It lies at the bottom of Lake Hylia which you will reach with the Silver Scale from Zora’s Domain. Returning it to King Zora will net you the fourth Empty Bottle, after he hands it back over to Link.

Ghost Shop, Hyrule Castle Town

The last Empty Bottle is awarded by the Poe Collector in the Ghost Shop of Hyrule Castle Town. He will task Link with capturing Big Poe Spirits within any Empty Bottles in your possession. Five Bottles of Big Poe Spirits will net that final Empty Bottle, while ten Bottles will earn Link a Gold Rupee.

How To Use Empty Bottles

By this point you will have already learned that you can contain creatures and things in the Empty Bottles, and then either use them yourself or return them to various NPCs for rewards. The latter include:

The Buyer in Hyrule Castle Town as young Link, or Kakariko Village as adult Link

  • Bugs for 20 Rupees
  • Fish for 30 Rupees
  • Blue Fire for 40 Rupees

The Poe Collector in the Ghost Shop in Hyrule Castle Town

  • Poe Spirits for 10 Rupees
  • Big Poe Spirits for 50 Rupees

The Empty Bottles also serve as containers for purchasable items, including the following:

Potion Shop in Hyrule Castle Town

  • Red Potion for 30 Rupees
  • Green Potion for 30 Rupees
  • Fairies for 50 Rupees

Granny’s Potion Shop in Kakariko Village

  • Blue Potion for 100 Rupees

Talon at Lon Lon Ranch

  • Lon Lon Milk for 10 Rupees

There are two other sources for free Lon Lon Milk assuming you have unlocked Epona’s Song. Play it for absolutely any Cow instead, and then collect your free refill of Lon Lon Milk.

The other source is the Cow that Link wins from beating the obstacle course minigame within the time limit. This is unlocked at Lon Lon Ranch only after successfully escaping from there with Epona, as part of the missable side quest to unlock the horse. The prize Cow will be dispatched to Link’s home in Kokiri Forest, to be milked at any time after playing Epona’s Song for her.

Lastly, Link can also summon and hold Fairies for free, from Fairy Fountains and Gossip Stones, rather than buying them.

Those are all five of the Empty Bottles, including the newly added one, to be found in The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Remake, as well as their various uses.
