Natal lags at 1/10 of a second

MTV have published their findings on the lag behind the motion control technology that is Project Natal- and it came out at an average of 1 tenth of a second.

The experiment was carried out through 5 demos, and 40 movement-to-screen transitions were recorded. It should, however, be noted that a stopwatch was used to measure, leaving room for human error.

What this means is that Natal could well be, for all intents and purposes, useless for any quick-thinking game like a shooter or action game. However, we didn’t really want to use Natal for that anyway. Nevertheless, its well suited to most any other type of game, such as driving or platforming.

Don’t be disheartened though- that puts it roughly on par with the Wii lag time.

So that’s alright then.
