Report: Durango game development costs have doubled

Posted By | On 03rd, Apr. 2012

According to a new report on GI.Biz, the development costs for Xbox 360 sequels have doubled and the budgets have sharply risen.

“I’m having to double my budget for models,” said one developer. “If we want to take advantage of Durango’s capabilities it takes a lot more time for each model.”

The report says that this may increase development times for Durango games. The Wii U’s development costs have also risen and if the tablet controller is used it may result in additional design time.

Publishers are not happy with this new development and are looking for ways to maximize their revenue. Earlier Xbox 720’s specs were leaked and you can check that out over here.

It’s really interesting to see the development costs to have doubled, although, we have to wait till more developers complain about this before taking this as a fact.
