Your Miiverse messages will be moderated by Nintendo

Posted By | On 07th, Jun. 2012

Miiverse is a social networking service for the Wii U, and if you post a message there – it will take up to 30 minutes to appear. Yes, I am not joking here. This was confirmed by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata himself.

He said the Miiverse service will be heavily moderated by Nintendo “human resources” personnel and will also have additional filters for swear words.

The main reason given for this was to make the service child-friendly. There are plenty of problems that arises if they implement this. I wonder how they will personally moderate sheer amount of messages, and what about the ones that show up as false positive? And how are Nintendo going to counter people purposely trying to abuse this system in place?

How many people will Nintendo actually employ to manually read all messages? I can’t even comprehend what is actually going on here. Considering the competition from Sony and Microsoft, why would anyone even bother with all these things?

“The attraction of a social network is the immediacy of the feedback. Personally, I think 30 minutes [delay] should be acceptable,” Iwata revealed to LA Times.

Iwata thinks 30 minutes delay is fine. There you go, guys. Here’s our review of the fantastic Nintendo E3 2012 press conference.  Tell us what you think in the comments section below.
