A Plague Tale: Innocence

A Plague Tale: Innocence is a game that depicts a setting that remains shockingly underrepresented in video games- that of the Black Plague, when the bubonic plague, brought to Europe by rats aboard ships from seafaring and globetrotting merchants, ended up decimating the population in Europe.

Set against this backdrop, the game intends to depict the story of Hugo and Amicia, two siblings who have to avoid getting infected by the disease, while also being on the run from the Inquisition- and who, along the way, end up stumbling upon and uncovering a sinister and deadly supernatural conspiracy.

The trailer for the game that got released at E3 does appropriate justice to this hefty subject matter, depicting rats, death, the diseased, discomfitting flashbacks, and more. You can check it out for yourself below.

If this game interests you, you should pick it up when A Plague Tale: Innocence launches for PS4, Xbox One, and PC some time next year.
