From heart-pumping horror to adrenaline-fueled stealth, we’ve seen quite a bit of A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead in recent weeks, and with the game set to launch now long from now, developer Stormind Games and publisher Saber Interactive have released another new dev diary, this time with senior narrative designer Luca Esposito talking about the game’s story.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is set around 100 days into the post-apocalypse, and similar to the Quiet Place movies, will frequently jump back and forth between present day and flashbacks of day one of the apocalypse. Players will play as a young college student named Alex, who is attempting to survive what’s left of the world in company with her boyfriend Martin, her father, and Martin’s parents. Alex’s engineering skills come in quite handy on the survival front.

Alex, interestingly enough, also has asthma, an coughing fits – which, of course, create a lot of noise – can be deadly in a world where there is urgent need to be silent pretty much all the time. At the same time, early on in the game, Alex also discovers that she’s pregnant, which is another major complication that she and her companions have to deal with. Check out the trailer below for more details.

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead launches October 17 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
