The last few weeks have been big for Xbox Game Pass. The service is obviously continuing to improve and expand with the addition of first party games and legacy titles on a pretty consistent basis, but recently, we’ve started seeing some major third party games coming to Game Pass right at launch as well. Outriders has been available in the Game Pass catalog since day 1, while it was recently confirmed that MLB The Show 21, shockingly enough, would be following suit as well.

And it seems Microsoft’s not done just yet with major third party day one releases for the service. Recently on the Xbox Era podcast, Microsoft insider Shpeshal Ed claimed that there is one major AAA third party first person shooter releasing this Fall that will most likely be coming to Xbox Game Pass at launch. Of course, he stopped short of saying exactly what that would be, but we can probably narrow it down based on the choice of words.

Call of Duty 2021 and Battlefield 6 are, of course, the biggest third party AAA first person shooters launching this Fall, and between the two of those, the latter seems the likelier choice, especially given Microsoft and EA’s close association (especially related to Game Pass) of late. Over on Twitter, known insider Tom Henderson also seems to be suggesting that Battlefield 6 might indeed launch on Game Pass. Of course, Far Cry 6 is also due out this year, and there have been reports that Microsoft is trying to get Ubisoft Plus added to Xbox Game Pass, so that possibility cannot be discounter either.

As always with unverified reports and leaks, take this with a grain of salt for now. It wouldn’t be surprising at this point to see Microsoft bag more big names for Xbox Game Pass for day 1 releases, but until such time something gets officially announced, tread with caution. We’ll let you know should we hear anything more, of course, so stay tuned.
