Alan Wake 2 just received a new update, per an announcement from Remedy. It isn’t as massive as the August update, but it’s still an important addition if you’re using all the new goodies added to the PC version back then. The game now supports AMD FSR 4.1, which should let you make the most of your system and experience the game in all its visually eccentric glory.
If a game could benefit from the latest tech, this one certainly fits the bill. Those visuals were a huge part of its appeal when we reviewed it, and they help sell all the other awesome stuff that this game brings to the table. It isn’t easy to sell over 3 million copies without some substance, after all.
The console versions are getting fixes to HDR toggles that were misbehaving a little, but there’s no mention of any rendering changes on that front, which is a bummer considering the new upscaling additions for base versions. We’re not discounting the possibility of Remedy making use of them at a later date to make those versions better, though.
Of course, with Control Resonant doing as well as it has, and chatter about a potential sequel to Alan Wake 2 making the rounds, it’s nice to see Remedy supporting one of its older titles.
