Alan Wake 2 – Remedy Reiterates it Has No Plans for a Physical Release

Though excitement surrounding Alan Wake 2’s long-awaited release is high, there has been some disappointment about the fact that upon release, the game will only be available digitally, with developer Remedy Entertainment having previously confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will be a digital-only game in order to keep its price at $60.

Digital media has, of course, become increasingly dominant in recent years, but even so, given the fact that the physical market still demands a sizeable share, it’s no surprise that many have been disappointed with Remedy’s decision to not launch a physical version of Alan Wake 2.

Speaking in a recent interview with MP1st, creative director and writer Sam Lake touched on the topic once again, and though he acknowledged the demand for a physical version of the survival horror sequel, Lake reiterated that as part of its deal with publisher Epic Games, it currently has no plans for a physical version of the title.

“It is a digital-only game,” Lake said. “This is a decision between Remedy’s management and our publisher. I hear you, but there are no other plans as of now.”

Alan Wake 2 is set to launch on October 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
