I really cannot imagine that one of the  most popular franchises in gaming history was originally going to be a dungeon building sim. The thought itself is quite horrifying. Zelda was essentially a creation tool that let the player make and share their own dungeons. However Miyamoto scrapped the idea, because they thought that the idea of the players making dungeons was quite absurd.
