DESIGN BASED ON AN ATARI PROTOTYPE
That iconic design, however, wasn’t something that Sony came up with by themselves. They have often credited a prototype for an Atari console, called the Falcon030 Microbox, for being the machine that they based the look of the PS2 on. Both share a similar design and structure, and the resemblance isn’t hard to see. Atari, of course, never went through with the plans for said design, and instead opted for the Atari Jaguar.
