The mushrooms from Mario are based on actual Mushroom with similar effects
When we first encountered the mushrooms in the first level of Mario, many of us got blown away by the effects that it had on Mario, it made him bigger, and in those days it was quite a big deal to see your character grow in size. However what many of you don’t know is that the mushroom is actually based on a real life mushroom which is known as Amanita muscaria. This mushroom is noted for its hallucinogenic properties.
