AMD just dropped an exciting announcement, confirming its October 2026 update will bring AMD FSR 4.1 to the Xbox Series X|S and ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X.
That announcement follows PS5 getting QSSR to support its upscaling needs, which speaks to Xbox’s efforts to keep its current-gen offerings as competitive as possible. Looking ahead, the announcement also included FSR Diamond support in Project Helix, which should make gaming on the next-gen console even more immersive. That’s interesting when you consider it alongside those rumors about the console’s additional firepower over the PS6.
The official announcement page has a few comparison shots across a multitude of games to give you a better idea of how the update could improve your existing library of titles. Meanwhile, the possibility of developers using the new tools to polish their offerings can’t be written off.
There’s a new video detailing what to expect from the update in case you’re interested, and it’s a pretty nice summary of all the cool new stuff you can look forward to once it’s on your console of choice. For our part, we’re glad that we’re getting as much as we can out of our trusty Series X. As always, stay tuned for more details on the results.
