Animal Crossing New Horizons - Happy Home Paradise DLC

Following its Q3 fiscal year 2021 financial report, Nintendo unveiled the latest sales figures for a number of titles like Metroid Dread and Mario Party Superstars. It was also revealed that newer titles like Pokemon Legends: Arceus had sold over 1.4 million copies in Japan within the first three days. However, older titles like Animal Crossing: New Horizons continue to perform well.

While noting that the title had sold 37.42 million units worldwide since launching in March 2020, Nintendo revealed that over 10 million sales were from Japan alone. As such, it’s now Japan’s best-selling video game. The previous record was set by Super Mario Bros. in 1985 with 6.81 million units sold.

Post-launch support for Animal Crossing: New Horizons wrapped last year, though Nintendo launched its first paid expansion with Happy Home Paradise. This allowed for creating vacation homes for villagers, customizing the furniture, layout and much more. For more details, check out our review here.
