Famitsu have released the latest data for video game software and hardware sales in Japan in the last week. The Last of Us Part 2, which debuted on top of the charts last week, has fallen down to fourth place after an 85 per cent drop in sales, selling nearly 26,000 units across the week. Retaking the top spot, unsurprisingly, is Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which sold over 70,000 copies.
Gunfire Games’ Remnant: From the Ashes, which just saw its Japanese release, debuted in fifth place, selling over 19,000 units, with fellow debutant Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia following in sixth place with over 15,000 copies sold. Mr Driller: Drill Land at 10th place was another new release in the top 10 for the week. Otherwise, the rest of the top 10 is dominated by games frequently seen in the charts, including the likes of Ring Fit Adventure, Pokemon Sword and Shield, Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
On thee hardware front, the Switch continues to lead the way, selling over 93,000 units last week, up from over 78,000 units the week before that. The PS4 saw a bit of a dip, selling over 7,800 units.
