Cosmetic price drops aren’t the only thing that ARC Raiders have to look forward to on November 13th, as the first major post-launch update, North Line, is also going live. It brings a new map, Stella Montis, but unlocking it means participating in the Breaking New Ground community event.
After completing five expeditions, you can start contributing materials like Metal Parts, Rubber Parts, Plastic Parts, Chemicals and Fabric. Doing so grants Merits which will “fuel the next phase of progression” – Phase 2, “Staking Our Claim.”
This grants new rewards and challenges in a separate track, available until December. Of course, Stella Montis itself is worth exploring as well to uncover “rare resources, new gameplay items,” and perhaps some “schematics for long-lost technology.” It also provides some important lore on humanity’s fumbled attempts to venture into space.
Could that have possibly played a part in the ARC’s current attacks on Earth? Surely not, though you have to wonder if the name Stella Montis, which is Latin for “Star of the Mountain,” is related.
A new Legendary weapon, two new grenades and three new types of mines await, but you’ll have to fight for them. The Shredder, a new ARC, will pose a challenge at close range. Then there’s the Matriarch, which even dwarfs the Queen, though you’ll only see it when a “specific map condition” is active.
