After months of leaks and rumours, Ubisoft recently confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is indeed the next mainline instalment in its flagship franchise. A full reveal for the game will arrive at Ubisoft Forward on September 10- but of course, especially with this being a Ubisoft game, that doesn’t mean the leaks have stopped.

Prominent insider Tom Henderson has leaked the game’s official description, seemingly from its PlayStation Store listing (which is yet to go up). And it seems to confirm a great many details that have been previously reported. Basim will star as the game’s protagonist, with the setting being confirmed as ninth-century Baghdad.

True to previous reports, the description also strongly suggests that the game will be much more stealth-focused than recent Assassin’s Creed titles. There’s also mention of “a dense and vibrant city whose inhabitants react to your every move”, which suggests that the game will feature crowd density similar to that of 2014’s Assassin’s Creed Unity– once again, in line with what leaks have claimed.

Interestingly, the blurb also confirms that Assassin’s Creed Mirage will launch as a cross-gen title, and that cross-gen upgrades will be offered at no addition cost.

You can read the full description below:

Experience the story of Basim, a cunning street thief seeking answers and justice as he navigates the bustling streets of ninth-century Baghdad. Through a mysterious, ancient organization known as the Hidden Ones, he will become a deadly Master Assassin and change his fate in ways he never could have imagined.

– Experience a modern take on the iconic features and gameplay that have defined a franchise for 15 years.
– Parkour seamlessly through the city and stealthily take down targets with more visceral assassinations than ever before.
– Explore an incredibly dense and vibrant city whose inhabitants react to your every move, and uncover the secrets of four unique districts as you venture through the Golden Age of Baghdad.

If you already own the PS4™ version of this game, you can get the PS5™ digital version at no extra cost and you do not need to purchase this product. Owners of a PS4™ disc copy must insert it into the PS5™ every time they want to download or play the PS5™ digital version. PS4™ game disc owners who buy the PS5™ Digital Edition disc-free console will not be able to get the PS5™ version at no extra cost.

Meanwhile, if reports are to be believed, Ubisoft will be unveiling several more Assassin’s Creed games at its upcoming showcase, including Project Red and Project Hexe, both of which will be part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity (though they might not be out for a while yet).

Leaks have also claimed that a remake of the original Assassin’s Creed is also in development, and will be offered as part of Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s season pass. Read more on that through here.

We’ll be covering the event live, so stay tuned for more updates in the coming days.
