Ubisoft has stressed on several occasions that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ map isn’t going to be quite as divisively massive as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, but what does that mean for the runtime? The open-world action RPG might be a relatively more compact game than its 2020 predecessor, but it’s still quite a lengthy odyssey.
In an interview with Twitter user @Genki_JPN, creative director Jonathan Dumont has provided specific details on how long players can expect Assassin’s Creed Shadows to be. The main story will be roughly 30-40 hours long, per Dumont. However, with optional content included, it will be significantly longer at 80 hours, if not more.
That’s more or less in line with prior information. Previously, Dumont said that Shadows’ main story is roughly comparable in length to Assassin’s Creed Origins and Odyssey, which would put it somewhere in the 30-50-hour range.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is due out on March 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
