Ubisoft has revealed that, as part of the most recent update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the team behind the game has also sneakily added some tweaks to how the game’s parkour system works. In a post on X, the studio revealed that a subtle change has been made to maintaining vertical height when free running. Interestingly, this change isn’t listed in the update’s patch notes.

It was originally spotted by YouTuber Roptopolous, who noted their observations in a short video that you can check out below. “Community parkour expert Ropotopolous spotted an early tweak to parkour with Title Update 4,” wrote Ubisoft. “Our parkour devs just couldn’t wait and added a subtle increase for consistently maintaining vertical height when free running.”

The company has also noted that there are still more changes planned for the parkour system in Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the form of tweaks and a way for players to eject off a wall that they happen to be scaling. “More ejects and tweaks coming with the next update,” it wrote.

A roadmap for the game released earlier this month indicated that the next update that will bring in major changes to the parkour system will be coming in late May. The update will bring with it height-gaining back ejects, height-gaining side ejects, and a new vertical ledge jump, along with an update to the in-game photo mode.

The first major planned update brought with it a new story drop, updates to the in-game codex, along with some quality-of-life improvements. Check out our coverage of the most recent update for more details.

In future updates, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be getting even more content, including a new story drop in June, new difficulty options, and more updates to Animus content and the codex. There are also quality-of-life features planned, including the option to display headgear in cutscenes, as well as more story drops, special collaborations, and even a New Game Plus mode.

Rumours from last month indicate that one of the new features that might be in the works for Assassin’s Creed Shadows might be some sort of multiplayer mode. While Ubisoft has been quiet about the fact, dataminers have discovered mentions for test multiplayer maps and a PvP game mode in the game files. Rumours about multiplayer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows first started making the rounds back in October, where it was thought that a co-op mode for the game was in the works.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was released for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S back in March. The game has seen a positive reception across all platforms, and Ubisoft had confirmed that the game had more than 3 million players in its first week.
