Following its recent announcement, Ubisoft has now released a massive update for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Dubbed the “Most Requested Update”, the patch is massive, clocking in at 15 GB on Xbox Series X/S, 5.62 GB on PS5, 13.42 GB on PS4, 13.8 GB on Xbox One, 7.8 GB on Steam, and 12.27 GB on Ubisoft Connect, and brings with it a New Game+ mode. The PS5 Pro players can now also use PSSR 2 to further enhance the game’s visual fidelity while maintaining steady frame rates.

The New Game+ mode is more than just being able to start the game over with all of your progression intact. Players will first have to complete the Holy Day Quest – the last quest of the Hamtunscire region – to access the mode. After this, players will be able to go through loops of New Game+ to access progressively more challenging experiences.

In New Game+ mode, players will be able to earn Mithril by finding pieces of gear they already own or interacting with books of knowledge that they’ve already used in the past. Mithril is a new resource that is also available in the Niflheim, Mastery, and River Raid shops, and gives players a new material that can be used to upgrade their gear. Nickel, Carbon, and Tungsten, typically found in Wealth Chests, will be replaced with Platinum – which was previously only available in the Dawn of Ragnarok DLC – and can now be used to upgrade gear even without playing the DLC.

The upgrade level of each piece of divine tier gear has been raised from 13 to 27, with these new ranks being attainable through the use of Mithril. Ubisoft has noted that players will need a lot of Mithril to keep up with the challenges present in New Game+.

A new method of progression is also available. Dubbed the Extended Progression mode, it allows players to switch to a system where Gear upgrades and Runes increase Power by 1 point, while Masteries increase Power after every 5 skill points. This is available for those who want to feel more of an impact whenever they upgrade their gear. To help players deal with all of the new gear and materials they might find, a Stash is now available in Ravensthorpe where extra pieces of Gear and Runes can be safely stored without cluttering up your inventory.

The final major new feature in the update involves additions to the rune forge. Players will be able to use silver to upgrade their runes from lesser to normal, and from normal to greater. A new tier of rune is also available – Superior – which can only be obtained through upgrading, and needs Mithril instead of silver. There is now also a new engraving page in the rune forge menu, with more than 300 available engravable runes that can be used to further customize gear.

Along with this, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has also gotten a host of balance changes. For more details, check out the full patch notes below.
