When Ubisoft dropped the first cinematic trailer and details for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, it attached the Xbox Series X logo to the end of the former. Surely this couldn’t be more than a marketing agreement? As it turns out, Ubisoft’s open world Vikings title will support Smart Delivery for Xbox Series X.

Ubisoft didn’t outright announce the same but the Best Buy listing for the Xbox One version confirms Smart Delivery support. This means that Xbox One owners can also play it on Xbox Series X when that version and the console are both available. It’s essentially like receiving a free upgraded version of the game.

Expect official confirmation on Smart Delivery from Ubisoft in the coming days. This would put Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in the same company as Cyberpunk 2077 and Gears 5, thus providing Xbox One players with the ability to carry over their current collection when upgrading. Stay tuned for more information on Assassin’s Creed Valhalla – it’s set to release in this holiday season for Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC and Google Stadia.
