Astro Bot Is Now The Highest Rated VR Game of All Time

Sony has apparently hit upon the VR killer app here.

Astro Bot

Astro Bot is an incredible game, by all accounts— a gloriously inventive 3D platformer that appears to be the first one yet to properly understand how a video game can work in VR space. We’ve already noted previously that the game is getting great reviews, but the full extent of that is now clear for all to see— as ResetEra points out, Astro Bot: Rescue Mission is now the highest rated VR game of all time on Metacritic.

It usurps Lone Echo from the spot, beating it by a full point. Metacritic is not the only aggregator where the game has performed well, either. Over on Opencritic, Astro Bot has a rating of 89, and is one of the highest rated games of the year. Meanwhile, on VR game review aggregator VR Game Critic, the game has a score of 91 and is, yet again, the highest rated VR game on record.

Hopefully, this is the kind of game that ends up driving mass market adoption of the PSVR, and of VR as a whole. It’s great to see something so inventive and ahead of the curve is still possible in today’s day and age.
