A contender to The Elder Scrolls' throne?

Avowed

Obsidian Entertainment are certainly keeping themselves busy. On top of announcing expansions for The Outer Worlds at the Xbox Games Showcase and talking about their newly released survival game, Grounded, they also announced the next big RPG that they’ve suggested earlier that they’re working on.

That game is Avowed, a first person RPG set in the fantasy world of Eora, complete with swords, magic, monsters, and everything else you’d expect from such a setting. That name will, of course, be familiar to fans of Pillars of Eternity- Obsidian Entertainment’s cRPG series is also set in the fantasy world of Eora.

It looks (and sounds) like Obsidian’s answer to The Elder Scrolls, and with Microsoft’s financial backing behind them, they might just deliver a game that can vie for that coveted throne. The game’s reveal trailer is very brief, and doesn’t show a whole lot, but it sets the tone well enough. Take a look below.

Avowed is being built from the ground up for the Xbox Series X, and will also release for PC. No release date has been announced yet, but this one is likely going to take a while.
