Daniel Cross who was a former drug addict turned out to be a double agent as  he was a member of the Templar Order and sleeper agent, tasked with the infiltration of the Assassin Order in order to effect the assassination of the Mentor. Once he assassinated the Assassin’s leader, he severely crippled them and demoralized them.
