Battlefield 2042’s delay into November meant that its open beta got slightly pushed back as well, but as EA and DICE recently announced, fans won’t have to wait much longer for it. The beta kicks off on October 6 for those who pre-ordered the game, and everyone else on October 8, with pre-loads going live on October 5. So exactly how much space are you going to have to clear up for it?
Well, not a lot. As you’d expect from an open beta, the download size here isn’t awfully demanding- at least on the PS5. As reported by @PlaystationSize on Twitter, the download size for Battlefield 2042’s beta on the PS5 is 16.861 GB without any updates, which seems like a reasonable figure. We can probably expect the size to be the same (more or less) on the Xbox Series X/S at the very least, while PS4 and Xbox One will see sizes in that range as well.
Those who play the open beta on PS5 and PS4 won’t require a PlayStation Plus subscription, though frustratingly enough, an Xbox Live Gold subscription is a requirement on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
