As EA and Battlefield Studios get closer to the October 10 release of Battlefield 6, a new community update for the upcoming shooter has provided a few details about how well the game’s open betas and playtests went. In the post, the developers behind Battlefield 6 have revealed that the open beta for Battlefield 6 saw 92,351,578 hours played. This, along with more than 30 Battlefield Labs sessions have made Battlefield 6 “the most tested and iterated Battlefield game in history.”

Along with this, Battlefield Studios has also elaborated on how the menu and playlists in the full game will be seeing changes based on the feedback it got from players. This means that all launch maps will be available across playlists, allowing players to pick the map they want to spend time with. Conquest, Breakthrough and Escalation modes will all get their own dedicated playlists as well, along with combined playlists like Conquest & Escalation and Breakthrough & Rush.

As for Portal, the menu option is getting changed to now be called Community. This, as Battlefield Studios has noted in the past, will be where players can make use of a server browser to find precisely the kinds of matches that players might be looking for. The server browser will also get Breakthrough, Conquest and Rush as verified modes, which can then allow the developers to feature official Hardcore experiences.

On launch, Battlefield 6 will have a host of playlist options, including single-mode playlists, Closed Weapons experiences, close-quarters battle playlists, and All-Out Warfare playlists. Depending on the game mode and maps, these playlists, along with others, will also see changes and updates being made in the future as more content is released for the game.

When it comes to minute-to-minute gameplay, Battlefield Studios has boasted that more than 200 changes have been made to the core gameplay of Battlefield 6, including bug fixes, balance improvements, and overall polish. Among other things, players will notice that movement feels more responsive, and that several weapons have had their recoil changed up to reward tap firing and burst control.

Interestingly, Battlefield Studios has also noted that players during the beta and playtests have been requesting naval warfare as well. While no promises have been made about this feature, the developers have said that “requests for naval warfare have not gone unnoticed,” along with requests for fan-favourite features like certain helicopters and platoons.

Previously, the plans for the first season of Battlefield 6 had also been outlined. The game’s Season 1 will be kicking off on October 28 with Rogue Ops, and will bring with it a new map, as well as a new 4-on-4 game mode. The Season will get more content as part of a three-phase release, with the second phase starting on November 18, while the third phase starts on December 9. For more details, check out our coverage of the game’s first season.

Among the content coming to Battlefield 6 is also something called Covert Operations. No details have been revealed about what it might be, however. Check out our feature for more details on how Battlefield 6 compares to its predecessor, Battlefield 2042.
