Battlefield 6

While quite a few details about Battlefield 6 have been revealed, a lingering question has been whether or not EA has any plans to bring the franchise on to the Nintendo Switch 2. This question now has an answer. In an interview with Eurogamer, Battlefield 6 head Vince Zampella has confirmed that the Switch 2 will be missing out on the large-scale competitive shooter.

Zampella said in an interview that EA “doesn’t currently” plan on bringing Battlefield 6 to the Nintendo Switch 2. When asked about the reasons, he noted that the core platforms for the game – PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S – are where the core audiences for the Battlefield franchise are present. He did, however, go on to note that he personally is “a huge Switch fan.”

During its recent event, EA revealed quite a few details about various aspects of the multiplayer in Battlefield 6, including its game modes, classes, and even some of the maps where players will be able to wage war against each other. Details were revealed over the course of three distinct trailers, which you can check out in our coverage.

The first trailer focused on showcasing some of the chaotic gameplay that players can expect from Battlefield 6, both as boots-on-the-ground soldiers as well as while they’re driving or flying around in various vehicles. The trailer also gave us a look at what kind of movement options players will have, as well as how guns will look, feel to shoot, and how they will react in terms of recoil.

The second trailer showcased some of the core gameplay systems in Battlefield 6, focusing on combat, the class system, and the environmental destruction. Classes are coming back with Battlefield 6 in a major way, with an all new Signature Weapons system that rewards players for picking the right weapon for their role in a squad. For example, the Assault class is a frontline fighter and can be equipped with grenades and various assault rifles. The Engineer, on the other hand, is an anti-vehicle specialist, armed with plenty of explosives as well as means to support allied vehicles with repairs.

The third trailer gave us a look at the core game modes – Conquest, Rush and Breakthrough – as well as the smaller-scale game modes – Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Domination, and Escalation. The trailer also showcased some of the game’s maps, which take place all over the world, from Cairo, Egypt, to Brooklyn, USA.

Battlefield 6 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox series X/S on October 10. Leading up to the release, EA has also confirmed that there will be two beta periods for the title. The first beta test will start off as a closed beta for Battlefield Labs playtesters on August 7. This test will then open up to everyone on August 9 before going offline on August 10. A second beta test, kicking off on August 14, will be completely open before it closes down on August 17.
