With EA finally being ready to showcase Battlefield 6, quite a few questions have come up regarding how the game will be priced. While a report from earlier this month indicated that EA might be raising the prices of its games by selling Battlefield 6 for €79.99, these rumours have now been called into question thanks to a statement by CEO Andrew Wilson.

During the company’s latest earnings conference call (as caught by GamesRadar), Wilson dismissed the idea of going with an $80/€80 price tag, saying that the company wasn’t going to make these kinds of “dramatic changes” for now. Answering a question about whether Battlefield 6 would be priced at $80, Wilson said, “We’re not looking to make any changes on pricing at this stage, but that’s in the construct of we already offer a fairly broad pricing scheme across our various products.”

“When you think about everything from free-to-play through to our premium products and our Deluxe editions, our orientation is always to capture the full spectrum of pricing so that we can serve players in the best way possible and offer them the greatest value,” he explained. “We’ll continue to look at opportunities to deliver great value to our players through various pricing schemes over the course of time, but no dramatic changes planned yet.”

EA CFO Stuart Canfield also gave his own response to the question, mentioning that the company hasn’t yet made any changes to how it is going to price its games throughout the fiscal year. Canfield also mentioned that the company wants to focus on offering “lifetime value” for its playerbase through its offering, especially with the release of live service games.

“We haven’t factored in any different approach in pricing through the current fiscal year and current guidance, and given the size of our live service, basically continue to be very focused on LTV [lifetime value] for us across our player base,” said Canfield.

The rumours about the pricing of Battlefield 6 indicated that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions would cost $80, while the PC version would come in at $70. The rumours also indicated that there will be a Phantom Edition, which will retail for €109.99 consoles and €99.99 on PC. Expected to be a digital-only outing, the Phantom Edition will include in-game goodies that will also be available separately through a Phantom Pack that can be bought.

EA officially unveiled the new Battlefield just last week with a reveal trailer. While we didn’t get too many details about the title other than the fact that it would be focused on the modern style of warfare, complete with boots-on-the-ground infantry along with vehicles, we did learn that the game is officially going to be titled Battlefield 6.

More details are expected to be revealed soon, including details about an open beta that EA had previously announced, as well as more information on release date and pricing. Battlefield 6 is currently under development for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It is also expected to feature a single-player campaign.
