While EA has already confirmed that it will finally unveil Battlefield 6 with a new trailer tomorrow, reports are already going around about its release date and the various editions that will be available to buy. According to Billbil-kun on Dealabs, Battlefield 6 is slated to release on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 10.

Along with this, the report also indicates that the Standard Edition costs €79.99 on Xbox Series X/S and PS5, and €69.99 on PC. The Phantom Edition will allegedly retail for €109.99 on consoles while the PC version costs €99.99. The latter is slated to be exclusively digital, and will also include additional in-game goodies along with the game as well (though it won’t feature multiplayer early access). These goodies, on the other hand, are also expected to be available separately in the form of a Phantom Pack. Pre-orders for both editions are slated to start on July 31.

The October 10 release date would fall in line with EA CEO Andrew Wilson expressing some relief about the fact that Grand Theft Auto 6 was delayed into May 2026. While he didn’t outright confirm the release date at the time, Wilson did mention that “we feel very good about launching Battlefield in [FY] 2026.”

Earlier this week, EA had also confirmed that Battlefield 6 would be getting an open beta. While not much was revealed in the way of details, the company did confirm that the beta will feature both the classic style of gameplay with class and weapon restrictions, as well as the new style, featuring no restrictions on weapons and classes but offering bonuses for classes using Signature Weapons.

The beta is expected to include one or two maps, and will likely feature the two signature game modes that the Battlefield franchise is famous for – Conquest and Rush. However, more details will likely be revealed shortly after the game’s official reveal trailer goes live tomorrow.

The new style of Signature Weapons where classes aren’t restricted from using any weapon type was first unveiled back in May as part of the Battlefield Labs playtest. The developers behind the game—Ripple Effect, DICE and Criterion—revealed that, through the system, a Medic, for example, could use a sniper rifle. However, Recon players would benefit more from using snipers, since it is their Signature Weapon, with bonuses like the ability to hold their breath for aiming to line-up long-distance shots.

The intent behind the new system seems to be to promote some variety in play styles across all of the classes, but without imposing any hard limits on what kind of gear a player can equip in their class loadouts. Response to this announcement at the time was mixed, with one of the top comments calling it the game’s “first big L”.

Shortly before EA had confirmed that the official title of the game would be Battlefield 6, rumours started going around about the title courtesy of content creator Doom49 posting a picture of the care package they received from EA to promote the game. The since-deleted post featured the logo displayed prominently.
