Battlefield 6’s principal game designer Florian Le Bihan has continued the developers’ well-praised streak of communicating with the game’s player base and confirming that some of the issues will be getting much-needed updates to fix them. In a new post, he has confirmed that Battlefield Studios is aiming to fix the in-game audio issues that some players are facing where they can’t hear another player’s footsteps by doing a full pass of the audio system in Battlefield 6.

Le Bihan also elaborated that they studio is working on verifying the changes, and that more details about this update that reworks the in-game audio will be coming soon. “The entire in-game audio is receiving a full pass to solve those issues,” he wrote, “including fixing some issues that caused some sounds to completely cut. We’re still working on it and verifying the changes but hoping we can share more details on that soon!”

In further posts, he also confirmed that the developers are working on fixing other issues as well, including one where the mouse sensitivity slider got broke from the previous update, resulting in it only being changeable in round numbers rather than allowing for fine-tuning. “Yeah it broke with the last update, will be fixed in the next one.”

Being able to listen for enemy footsteps is one of the biggest core components of any competitive multiplayer shooter, from the old days of Quake 3 Arena all the way to modern titles like Call of Duty, Counter-Strike 2, and of course, Battlefield 6. The fact that this audio is getting cut due to a big is a large enough issue that justifies the developers wanting to rework the audio system to ensure that it doesn’t happen moving forward. Some players have also reported the audio for enemy vehicles being similarly inaudible; since the whole audio system is getting a full pass, these issues will also likely be resolved.

In the meantime Le Bihan had also confirmed that the developers have been hard at work at figuring out how they can fix the recoil issues in Battlefield 6. While he noted that some improvements have been made on that front, the issue isn’t yet considered “100% fixed” for now. “We’ll get it fixed, it’s a pretty complex issue but we’re already cooking some improvements that will help quite a bit with the issue until it’s 100% fixed,” he wrote on social media.

Battlefield 6 is currently in the midst of its free trial across PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The free trial – available until December 2 – features 5 of the game modes and 3 of the maps. The announcement for the free trial was made alongside the release of the California Resistance mid-season update for Battlefield 6 Season 1. Among the content added to the game with the update are a new map, and a time-limited game mode dubbed Sabotage.
