If the intro cinematic for the second season of Battlefield 6 didn’t have you hyped, Battlefield Studios has debuted the first gameplay trailer. It introduces the newest map, Contaminated, which goes live on February 17th amid the usual mix of explosions and mayhem. And if the headline didn’t give it away, you’ll want to pack a gas mask for this.
Psychochemical smoke from Fort Lyndon is active on occasion, resulting in soldiers actively hallucinating (and being ripe for the picking). Gas masks will protect you from the effects, but also limit your field of view, so stay alert. Also going live with Extreme Measures, the first phase of Season 2, are two light helicopters, the AH-6 Little Bird and MH-350, which can venture through tunnels with terrifying ease.
Three new weapons are also on offer – the GRT-CPS DMR, VCR-2 Assault Rifle, and M121 A2 Machine Gun – alongside two new gadgets – the HTI-MK2 and 9K38 IGLA. On March 17th, Hagental Base debuts as a new map alongside the clearly-not-Splinter-Cell-inspired Nightfall event, the M1030-1 dirt bike, and the CZ3A1 submachine gun.
April 14th closes the season with Hunter/Prey, which includes updates to Portal, the LTV, and the limited-time Operation Augur. Strangely, there’s no mention of the returning Golmud Railway from Battlefield 4, but perhaps we’ll learn more in the coming months.
