The Battlefield franchise might be gearing up to conquer an entirely new frontier after nearly two and a half decades of being a prominent presence in the shooter genre. The Hollywood Reporter has brought this one to light, and it’s apparently coming with some heavy hitters in front of the camera and behind it.
Christopher McQuarrie, who has been instrumental in setting up all those iconic Mission Impossible moments you’ve been privy to over the years, and Michael B. Jordan, who needs no introduction, are reportedly meeting with some of Hollywood’s biggest studios (including Apple and Sony) to make it happen. The former is set to write, produce, and direct the film, while Jordan may also produce and star in it. Electronic Arts is also apparently attached as a producer.
There’s no information on the potential plot or whether the upcoming film could tie in with one of the franchise’s long list of titles at this time. However, it’s reportedly targeting a theatrical release, which is the best way to watch a film adapting the chaos and adrenaline that a Battlefield adaptation is sure to bring.
The project is likely a result of Battlefield 6’s phenomenal sales last year, and is one that we’re getting front row seats to if things go according to plan.
