Visceral Games’ Battlefield: Hardline will be receiving a new DLC pack soon called Blackout but it won’t be like other planned map packs. Instead, this update will be free for all players and offer two new maps. There will also be two new weapons – an R0933 variant and a new battle rifle.

It should be noted that there will also be different versions of Bank Job and Backwoods taking place in the nighttime. That’s a fairly good amount of content to offer for free (at least by today’s standards). Blackout will also include night vision goggles as a gadget.

Visceral has already released a two paid map packs for Battlefield: Hardline, namely Criminal Activity and Getaway that added new maps, weapons, mechanics and gadgets to the mix. The next major paid DLC will be Getaway and it’s only confirmed that this will include skill-based matchmaking along with leagues and divisions for Premium members. Meanwhile, the Blackout DLC is expected “soon”.
