Biomutant Seems to be in Line for a Native PS5 Launch – Rumour

Biomutant launched last year for PC and last-gen consoles, but it seems developer Experiment 101 is bringing it natively to current consoles as well.

Biomutant

Given how long Biomutant was in development and how long a fair few people were keenly looking forward to getting their hands on it to see if it would live up to its unique premise, it’s fair to say that Experiment 101’s post-apocalyptic action RPG did not, ultimately, live up to expectation. Even so, if you’ve been waiting to dive into its offerings for a better-optimized version of the game tailored specifically for new-gen consoles, you might be in luck.

As spotted on Reddit, an entry for a native PS5 version of Biomutant was recently uploaded to the PlayStation Network backend, complete with its own title ID and concept ID. The artwork that it comes with doesn’t specifically mention a PS5 version of the game though, so there’s no way to be entirely sure- but with little to no updates having been pushed for the game in recent months, it wouldn’t be the most surprising thing in the world to see it getting a native PS5 launch. Whether that means a native Xbox Series X/S launch is also coming remains to be seen.

In our review of Biomutant, we gave it a score of 5/10, saying, “Biomutant works best on paper, but it has too many derivative elements for anything alone to stand out.” You can read our full review through here.

At last count – which was July 31, 2021 – Biomutant had sold over a million copies, so it’s certainly been a decent enough commercial success for publisher THQ Nordic. The game is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
