It’s hard to believe, but it’s now been over six years since the last entry in the BioShock series, BioShock Infinite, released. The game released to critical acclaim and great sales, but it seems the series has not quite found its footing since then since, despite continued rumors, a new game in the franchise hasn’t materialized. Well, the original creator of the franchise is hard at work on something, and it seems today we got a hint through a job listing.
Ken Levine’s studio (once called Irrational Games, now renamed to Ghost Story Games) have been working on a secret project for a good while, and today a listing popped up for Cinematic Narrative Scripter. Within the description, it says they are hiring for an “ambitious” game in the immersive sim genre.
You can debate whether or not BioShock counts as an immersive sim. Some people think it is, others think the immersive sim elements are too light. Could the next game from Ghost Story Games finally be the BioShock revival we’ve been waiting on, or a new full on immersive sim? Only time will tell.
