Last year was not a good year for BioWare. While Anthem was meant to be a grand space adventure with live service elements, the game sold well below expectations and apparently had a hellish development that included many major rehauls. The game is apparently going to be rehauled once again and relaunched at some point in the future, but today BioWare tweeted out something, seemingly at random, about a previous sci-fi epic they worked on, the legendary Mass Effect.
The original Mass Effect trilogy was a huge event last generation and mostly beloved (outside the third game’s ending, which was polarizing to say the least). The franchise continued on to this generation of consoles with Mass Effect Andromeda, but that game failed to meet expectations and the franchise has seemingly been on ice ever since. BioWare’s official Twitter sent out a tweet with the beginning credits of the first game as well as some iconic music from the franchise.
The tweet is seemingly random as there’s no anniversary to celebrate. It seems rather odd if it is just a random tweet, especially since it’s from the official account. There are rumors out there that another game in the franchise is in development, but it won’t be out for quite some time. Could EA finally be thinking about remastering the original beloved trilogy? Let’s hope so, because I mean, it could also just be a random meaningless tweet too.
