Bloober Team are still riding the waves of success with their latest release, The Medium, but it seems they’re already at work on their next game. Recently, the developer confirmed that it was working on “a new big project”, and if new developments are anything to go by, it could be really big.

Speaking in an interview with GamesIndustry, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno revealed that the developer has been working on another horror game for over a year at this point, and is working on the project in collaboration with “a very famous gaming publisher”- though he can’t say much more than that.

“In fact, we’ve been working for more than a year on another gaming project, another horror IP, and we’re doing this with a very famous gaming publisher,” Babieno said. “I can’t tell you who. I can’t tell you what the project is, but I’m pretty sure when people realize we’re working on it, they will be very excited.”

If you’ve been keeping up with the plethora of leaks and speculation about a potential Silent Hill reboot over the last year or so, you wouldn’t be surprised that the obvious conclusion many are jumping to here is that Bloober is working with Konami on a new game in the beloved psychological franchise.

Of course, it’s worth pointing out that those dots are easy to connect. Psychological horror is what Bloober Team is known for, after all, and the developer has gone on record multiple times to talk about how heavily inspired it’s been by Silent Hill. Meanwhile, Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka – who worked with Bloober on the recent The Medium – is supposedly working on another game with Bloober Team. Coincidentally, Yamaoka recently said (in a now-removed interview) that his next project is “the one you’re hoping to hear about.”

Of course, it’s all just speculation at this point, so until we get official word on it one way or another, all we can do is theorize… and wait. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated on any new details that come our way.
