Call of Champions

Former Sony Online Entertainment developers have founded their own indie studio with Spacetime Studios and announced a new addition to the massive online battle arena or MOBA games genre with Call of Champions.

Unlike most MOBAs, Call of Champions is a 3 vs. 3 game that will release on mobiles and focuses packing the traditional formula into quick matches for those on the go. Matches last roughly five minutes and targeted at competitive minded gamers.

Spacetime CEO Gary Gattis stated that, “While the concept of the mobile MOBA is not new, we feel there’s significant room to improve the competitive experience, catering to the short sessions in which gamers use their mobile devices. We’ve distilled the MOBA to its core components by removing things like item shops, minions, and jungles and adding powerups, a five-minute clock, and a full suite of crazy abilities at your fingertips.

“Add on deep social layers like friends, teams, and broadcast/spectator modes, and there is nothing like it on mobile.”

Along 20 different Champions spread across five classes, each with their own abilities, you’ll have a social toolset for bringing on other team members, scheduling matches and even broadcasting games to other players. What are your thoughts on Call of Champions? Let us know below.
