The latest entry in Activision’s eternal shooter franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, came out as usual last year and is doing more than fine for itself. Despite the changing landscape of the gaming world and the now continuous Warzone, there are still plans in place for the series to remain an annual franchise. And hey, considering the franchise has generated nearly 30 billion in revenue, I don’t blame them. We won’t know much for sure about the next game for awhile, but already rumors are floating around.

Leaker ModernWarzone, who has leaked several things from the franchise in the past, is claiming that Call of Duty 2021 will be developed by Sledgehammer. The studio is one of the main three that head development on the series alongside Infinity Ward and Treyarch, often with the various support studios like Raven Software.

Call of Duty: WWII was the last game in the franchise that Sledgehammer was lead on, with Advanced Warfare being before that. If Activision follows the marketing from last year, teases will begin in Warzone before the official reveal. We’ll keep you updated.
