In a departure from previous years, Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s campaign won’t have early access. A company representative revealed to CharlieIntel that the development team is “fully focused” on the game’s worldwide launch.
“This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig into any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment on October 25th.” It’s an interesting, though not unwelcome choice, especially for those who don’t want to pre-order and remain spoiler-free.
The last title to feature early access to its campaign on pre-orders was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023). However, it received extensive backlash for its Open Combat missions, lackluster linear missions, terrible story, and much more. The short length didn’t help either. Check out our review.
Based on extensive campaign footage from Gamescom, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is shaping up somewhat better. It will be available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC next month while launching day one on Game Pass. Head here for some Zombies gameplay on Liberty Falls, the second round-based map available at launch.
