Activision will be revealing Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War tomorrow in Call of Duty: Warzone but the former’s official description has already leaked. According to CharlieIntel, this was found in the August 24th update files for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It’s not the strangest occurrence especially since Warzone itself leaked through the same means.

The description reveals that Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War is a “direct sequel” to the “original and fan-favorite Call of Duty: Black Ops.” Set in the early 1980s, players will “come face-to-face with historical figures and hard truths, as they battle around the globe through iconic locales like East Berlin, Vietnam, Turkey, Soviet KGB headquarters and more” in the campaign. The story sees Mason, Woods and Hudson returning as they chase a mysterious figure known as Perseus who “is on a mission to destabilize the global balance of power and change the course of history.”

Multiplayer and Zombies will feature a “Cold War arsenal of weapons and equipment.” It remains to be seen whether Zombies will return to a more realistic style of play with regards to its weapons or still feature all of the crazy gimmicks from previous games. Expect more details  and official confirmation on the game’s setting in the coming days.

Of course, Call of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War will also have a “world premiere new look” at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 27th so that should be worth checking out. The event starts at 11 AM PT on Thursday and runs for two hours with 38 games making appearances.
