Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launched last week and has apparently done well, setting a new franchise record for digital sales on launch day. That being, the game has faced a litany of issues, from bugs and glitches to multiplayer balance issues. The MP5 has been called out for being so good that literally nothing else – snipers included – can compete.
That’s more or less changed in the past day as Treyarch has finally nerfed the submachine gun. Its base effective damage range has been reduced by 33 percent while the initial recoil has been “adjusted.” This means that you won’t be out-dueling players at impossible ranges, at least in theory.
More balance changes and tweaks will be coming but players have to wait till Season 1 launches. For more details on the current issues of multiplayer, which extends to lack of content and annoying changes (like the abundance of scorestreaks, shoddy map design and so on), check out our review here. Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is currently available for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5 and PC.
