Call of Duty: Ghosts is Number 1 Most Played Multiplayer Game Worldwide, Top-Selling Title in North America

Following its release across both current and next gen titles, Call of Duty: Ghosts is the number 1 most played Xbox One multiplayer game worldwide and the top selling game for the console in retail stores across North America including Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart, according to Microsoft. It’s also ranked number 1 in the UK according to Gfk Chart Track is and the most played and number 1 selling PS4 title at retail according to SCEA.

Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing, stated that, “Around the globe, Call of Duty: Ghosts is leading the next generation. It’s the #1 selling title at key retailers and it’s also the most played game on Xbox One and PS4 globally. As we’ve said before, we’ve got the best community of fans in the world and we’re thrilled they’re coming with us to the next generation.”

Did we mention that it’s the number 1 most played Xbox 360 multiplayer game as well? Because it is. Despite criticisms of ho-hum visuals, scenes and maps that have been copy-pasted from other games and a lackluster single-player mode, Ghosts players have thus far held more than 1 billion multiplayer matches across all versions, Prestiged more than 2.2 million times and earned over 3.3 trillion Experience Points (XP).
