Infinity Ward came under criticism lately for ripping off a segment of the ending sequence for Call of Duty: Ghosts, which resembled the ending of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 right down to the animation. Of course, you could argue that this was just a part of the ending and not a horrendously large rip-off. As if on cue, it’s been revealed that the Strikezone map in Ghosts is a copy of Modern Warfare 3’s dome. Check out the video above for proof.
It’s not unlike studios to recycle assets and textures. Heck, Saints Row IV used its predecessor’s city as a template for its world map. The difference is that Volition added enough changes, improvements and more importantly, quality gameplay to ensure that it could do so many new things even with old pieces.
That’s the most worrying aspect of this recent revelation. Has Infinity Ward hit a ceiling on its map design, or this really just a case of copying and hoping no one would notice? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
