Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s multiplayer beta begins today for PS4 pre-orders and will last until October 17th, Monday. Along with trying the new maps and Combat Rigs, players will also experiment with the game’s crafting and Prototypes. A new video from Infinity Ward explains exactly how these work.
Prototypes function much like the gun variants from previous Call of Duty titles like Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 3 with their rarity levels. However, the higher tier variants like Legendaries and Epics come with unique perks. For instance, one gun bestows a Tactical Nuke with a 25 player kill-streak.
Players can use a new currency called Salvage to craft their own Prototypes and thus create guns with unique sets of perks. This will also likely be a means to push for in-game microtransactions, something seen in Advanced Supply Drops.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is out on November 4th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
