Call of Duty Mobile has become central to Activision’s strategy for the uber-popular shooter franchise and as a company as a whole since it launched in 2019, and the free-to-play shooter isn’t showing any signs of slowing down.

In its recent annual fiscal report for 2021, Activision announced that last year was a record one for Call of Duty Mobile. Following its launch in China, the game surpassed a total of 650 million lifetime downloads, up from the 500 million reported at this time last year.

Throughout 2021, Call of Duty Mobile also saw in-game player spending of “well above” $1 billion, while Activision also says the game’s monthly active user count also “almost matched those playing on console and PC in 2021.”

Call of Duty Mobile is undoubtedly going to remain central to Activision’s strategy on the platform, and with a dedicated mobile version of Call of Duty: Warzone also in development, it’s likely that the company’s presence in the mobile space is only going to grow.
