With its reveal set for August 17th, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has become an interesting prospect for Activision. Rumors claimed it was an expansion to last year’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and then later reported as a full-fledged sequel (which was officially confirmed last month).

Regardless of how much is new or changed after a year (not to mention last year’s skins and purchases carrying over into the sequel), it’s still $70. An Activision spokesperson told CharlieIntel, “As stated in numerous Activision Blizzard quarterly conference calls, Modern Warfare 3 is a premium release. It will be priced accordingly at $70.”

The news may not be surprising since Call of Duty is one of many triple-A franchises to adopt the $70 price tag. As for its features, we know that seven studios – including Infinity Ward – are involved in development. Treyarch’s presence fuels the rumor of a new Zombies experience, which could be free to play.

Time will tell, so stay tuned for more details later this week. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10th and is confirmed for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Its beta reportedly begins in October, with PlayStation pre-orders confirmed to receive it five days earlier than other platforms.
